A (slightly belated) happy New Year to you all! On a cold January day in England, last year’s annual conference in Malta seems a long way away – hopefully those of you that attended enjoyed both the conference programme and everything else on offer, as well as the lovely weather and location.

This newsletter will give an overview of the conference, as well as further details of this year’s conference in Nottingham. There will also be news of recent developmental workshops and a report from the SRIP symposium at last year’s ICM conference in Prague.

    Dear members,
we have decided to make several changes to the Newsletter. The first major change is increasing circulation to two issues per year. This will give us more room to report on items of interest so if you have any suggestions for improvements, features or any items you think readers would be interested in then please let our Newsletter editor know (james.newham@ncl.ac.uk). We would also like any feedback on the new design.
